Frans
Bellens lives in Brasschaat since 1931. He graduates in
1945 from the Normalschool in Antwerp and gets his diploma
of teacher. He starts and ends his teaching career on the
college of Saint-Michael in Brasschaat. He found the local
Drawing Academy there and he directs the place untill he
retires in 1985.
As a realistic artist, he makes
lots of realistic drawings in pencil and in eastern Indian
ink, in water colors and sanguine. Cultural historical
buildings and sceneries of the town Brasschaat are his
favourit objects. He gets the instruction of the
storefederation ' WBC ' of Brasschaat to paint water colors
of the three windmils who once stood in Brasschaat. He also
paints water colors and drawings in pencil of important
buildings and areas.
Besides being an artist, he is
also a writer and stage manager, etcher, organisor and
painter. Frans Bellens specialises himself in developing
and building historical-, cultural- and art expositions.
As a writer, he publishes several books about the history
of Brasschaat, for instance ' De Burgemeesters van
Brasschaat in de XX ste Eeuw ' about the mayors of
Brasschaat during the twentieth century.
